Can someone help me with my curly hair?

My hair is long, brown, and curly. I always put my hair up. Always. I want to leave it down but It always gets poofy when I go to school. Its fine when I'm at home. I don't want to straighten my hair and I don't want to use any hair products that will kill my hair(and the ozone). What can I do?
