With the Canadian dollar currently worth US$1.03 and rising, what do Canadian bookstores charge for things? Almost any book, calendar or greeting card will ert a pricing scheme like USD $19.99 / CAD $24.99, an odd illusion of permanence in exchange rates that seems limited almost exclusively to items sold in bookstores. Do stores now just go by the US price? Do they put little sale stickers on every item in the shop? Or do they continue the apparent Canadian tradition of charging way too much for stuff no matter the exchange rate?
